Great Interest in Collaborating with Computer Science

Last week, more than 50 researchers from across all departments at the Faculty of Natural Sciences gathered at the department for an interdisciplinary research matchmaking event. The aim was to highlight that computer science is not just a tool for other fields, but a research partner that can help generate novel results through closer collaboration.

The event opened with brief introductions to our four research sections – Human-Centred Computing, Algorithms, Data and Artificial Intelligence, Cryptography and Cybersecurity, and Programming Languages, Logic and Software Security. Each section presented ongoing projects as inspiration for future collaborations, covering topics such as efficient algorithms for big data, machine learning and AI, data visualisation and visual analytics, software reliability, data privacy and cybersecurity.

Following the presentations, participants engaged in targeted discussions over lunch, exploring concrete ideas for new joint projects and ways to integrate computer science methods into their own research.

I am very happy to see so many researchers from departments across Natural Sciences who are interested in collaborating with Computer Science. I am convinced that exciting new projects will grow out of this,” says Professor and Head of Department Kaj Grønbæk
