600 students visited Katrinebjerg Karrieredag 2017
All 240 seats were snapped up in the Peter Bøgh Auditorium in the IT City Katrinebjerg friday, as Aarhus University hosted the 2017-edition of Katrinebjerg Career Day.
42 companies from all over Denmark were registered for the event, making the fair one of the largest IT career fairs in Eastern Jutland.
Through the day more than 600 students from a wide range of study programs at IT city Katrinebjerg visited the fair. And the companies got what they came for:
- We've had a really good career day! The atmosphere has been great and a lot students have dropped by our stand to hear about the career opportunities at Danish Bank Group IT. We need development talents to our technology center in Aarhus, particularly engineers and computer scientists. In general, we need many more people with a background in STEM educations (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathemathics, editor), says Martin Dam Petersen, Development Manager of Danish Bank Group IT.
Demand for labor
Katrinebjerg Karrieredag - or "" as the career fair is also called - is aimed at students from Aarhus University, looking for jobs in the rapidly growing Danish IT industry. The industry is currently experiencing an increased demand for labor. Thus, “Kdag” is a good opportunity for companies and students to meet.
A survey made by the trade organization “IT Branchen” (2016) shows that 42 percent of Danish companies are having difficulties filling IT specialist positions. A deficiency which in 2015 forced every third IT company to give up in recruiting labor to fill IT jobs.
