Professor Lars Arge has been elected member of the Presidium of the Royal Danish Academy of Science and Letters. The Academy was founded in Copenhagen in 1742 by King Christian VI, and the foundational purpose of the academy is to strengthen the position of scholarship in Denmark, particularly that of basic science and of the promotion of inter-disciplinary understanding. The Presidium treats all significant matters concerning the the Academy's activities and operations. It consists of the President, the two Presidents for the Humanities and Natural Science classes, the Secretary General, and the Editor, as well as two members elected by the humanities and the natural science classes, respectively. Lars Arge was elected by the natural science class.
