Master student detects four security breaches in SpiderOak ONE

In his master thesis, Anders Dalskov from Department of Computer Science, investigated the security of the popular cloud-storage solution SpiderOak ONE, which has been endorsed by Edward Snowden. SpiderOak ONE is an encrypted alternative to cloud storage solutions such as Dropbox and iCloud.

SpiderOak promises their users that the company cannot access their data. Nevertheless, Anders Dalsskov found four serious security breaches in the software, which he analyzed in his master thesis. SpiderOak has acknowledged the problems, and corrected the errors in the latest version of Spideroak ONE.

Anders Dalskov will defend his master thesis next week, and will start as a PhD-student in the Crypto and Security group at Department of Computer Science from August 1.
