Finances: The financial situation is good. There is a lot of activity around research applications, and the budgets are looking good.
Admissions: We are admitting approximately 60 fewer students than last year, which is unfortunate. The number of international plsces has been reduced, even though there is a high demand for these places. At the same time, we currently have around 10 places available on our Danish-language programme. A new BSc in Computer Science has opened in Vejle, which is expected to attract some students from the Southern Denmark region. In general, Computer Science programmes across the country have seen a decline in student numbers. Hopefully, this is a temporary issue, and we hope to have more international places available going forward.
2. The State Competence Fund
The State Competence Fund is something we should make better use of in relation to continuing education and professional development. We should consider how to identify relevant courses that our VIP staff can use for professional development. We will try to compile a list of the types of courses and activities that can be funded through the scheme. It may also be useful to obtain a list of the types of courses that other VIP staff at the faculty have received funding for, as inspiration.
3. SDD
We have reorganized the process so that many of the SDDs are now conducted within the sections rather than by the Head of Department. It is now the responsibility of the sections to ensure that SDDs are held with assistant professors, associate professors, PhD students, and postdocs. The SDDs will take place towards the end of the year, and further information will be announced later.
4. AOB
The possibility of streamlining the committee structure at CS was discussed.
The university has started offering flu vaccinations. This will be communicated to staff once we have received more information from the university, and we will do what we can to ensure that the offer is communicated and made available to staff.
